Volunteer Substitute Program

Posted Date: 10/27/26 (10:00 AM)

Calling all Yellowjacket Supporters! As you may be aware, our school district is facing some significant financial challenges. The challenges are temporary and our Board, our school leaders, and our faculty and staff are committed to resolving these challenges and continuing to deliver an excellent education to our KPS students. At a recent KPS Board meeting, a series of cost savings measures was discussed. Included was a directive to freeze payment of substitute teachers from the Operating Account. While this action will certainly have an immediate positive impact on the district's budget, it also requires our teachers and building leaders to be creative when a substitute is necessary.
Many of you have offered to help by volunteering your time as a substitute teacher, and we are grateful for the offer. Volunteering does require a few steps that you will need to take. Every classroom volunteer must have a specific background check known as the National Criminal History Record Check. I am attaching that application to this letter. There is a code at the top of the application that you will use that will direct you to a location you can go to turn in your application. At that time, you will also be required to pay a fee. Make sure you get a receipt. The good news is, the district has an Activity Account set up to pay for these background checks so that the Operating Account will not be impacted, and you will be reimbursed for the background check fee. Once you pay, bring your Teacher Information Form (also attached to this letter) and your receipt to the Kingfisher Schools Administrative Office at 602 W. Chisholm Drive, Kingfisher, OK 73750.

Building Principals will be provided with your information and will coordinate substitute opportunities and expectations directly with you. Thank you for being a part of our solution. We appreciate you! If you have any questions about the Volunteer Substitute Program, please call the Administrative Office and let them know you have questions.

Sincerely,
Dr. Sean McDaniel, Ed.D
Interim Superintendent of Schools
