ACADEMIC BOWL TEAM

The Academic Team is a competitive team affiliated with the OSSAA and the Oklahoma Central Academic Conference. The purpose of this team is to enhance the learning and intellectual pursuit of students. Members of the Academic Team compete in 4 local triads as well as OSSAA sponsored district, regional, area, and state competitions. The competitions are in a 4 quarter quiz bowl style buzzer format with questions answered individually and as a team.

Questions can be taken from history, literature, math, science, fine arts, current events, etc. The elective course will focus on practice questions as well as assigned independent study areas for each team member in order to have a successful and productive competitive season. Some afternoons/evenings, and Saturdays are required.


BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS OF AMERICA

DEBATE / SPEECH & ONE ACT

One Act Play, Speech, and Debate programs participate in competitions that aim to enhance students' communication skills, critical thinking, and creativity while fostering a sense of teamwork and healthy competition.


DECA

DECA enhances the co-curricular education of members through a comprehensive learning program that integrates into classroom instruction, applies learning, connects to business and promotes competition.


FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES

The vision and mission of Kingfisher FCA is to see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes and to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. We give back to our community by being a part of Operation Christmas Child every year.


FCCLA

To promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family members, wage earners, and community leaders, members develop skills for life through character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation.


FIRST TECH CHALLENGE ROBOTICS

As part of the Oklahoma CareerTech program, the robotics curriculum at Kingfisher High School's goal is to develop a world-class workforce for Oklahoma employers and prepare Oklahomans to succeed in the workplace, in education and in life.

The robotics program at large is designed to use robotics hardware and software based tools to shape the learners of today into the problem solving leaders of tomorrow. The mission of our competitive robotics teams is to design, build and assemble a robot that can complete landing, dropping, identifying and picking up tasks of varying difficulty in a course designed to test the handling, maneuverability, hardware capabilities, and piloting of a robot.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY / OKLAHOMA HONOR SOCIETY

NEWSPAPER/JOURNALISM

As part of the Oklahoma CareerTech program, the journalism curriculum at Kingfisher High School's goal is to develop a world-class workforce for Oklahoma employers and prepare Oklahomans to succeed in the workplace, in education and in life.

The Stinger is the student-run newspaper of Kingfisher High School.
Students are responsible for reporting and writing the news as a means of telling members of the student body what is happening on campus and around the community.


PHOTOGRAPHY
Sponsor : AJ Johnson

            This course mission is to provided basic information for students interested in photography.  Instruction includes discussions of photo equipment and terminology plus a historical overview of photography’s development from the mid-1800s.  Students will use Canon Digital Single Lens Reflex cameras provided by the school.  The use of student personal equipment is permitted.

            In addition to the regular classroom teacher, students will interact with “Peer Instructors” who are advanced students and who will provide guidance and support for the new students. Students will also showcase their talent through exhibitions and photo contests.

            Advanced Photography students or Staff will pursue their own photographic interests under the guidance and advice of the instructor.  In addition, these students also serve as “Peer Instructors” for the beginning students and  will also be responsible for serving the school by photographically covering all school activities and events. 


SPANISH CLUB

The Spanish Club aims to foster a love for the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures through engaging activities, cultural exchanges, and community involvement. We strive to create a welcoming environment where members can enhance their language skills, explore diverse traditions, and build friendships while celebrating the richness of the Spanish-speaking world.


STUDENT COUNCIL

The mission of Student Council is to provide year-round opportunities for KHS students to develop and apply leadership and life skills. The students strive to build school spirit, leadership qualities, and community involvement,  as well as awareness of community needs and the tools to know how to help where needed.

The main events we plan are the annual Homecoming activities and our philanthropic project, STING Week.
